Girlie Weekend

****Posted by Nicole

This past Saturday a bunch of my friends and I packed up and headed to a cabin in the woods by a lake. There wasn’t cell phone reception so we said our "I love you’s" to the husbands, while we could, and then left technology behind. After a few Friday the 13th Jason, Jason, Jason whispers from me, we settled in and did the normal things girls do to relax. No makeup, no boys, and only comfy clothes. We rearranged the living room furniture, ate whatever we wanted, and had tickle fights with our hair in pigtails. Not really on the last part, but that’s what our husbands pictured us doing.

I was so thankful for it being a cheat day and I took full advantage. Not only did I double fist the chips and queso, but I had a McDonalds Cheeseburger and fries after I ate a six inch subway sandwich. I wasn’t even hungry for dinner but I still couldn’t stop eating the garlic bread and pasta. (oh how I love carbs) I had reverted back to my high school days when I could eat anything and everything and not worry about the consequences. There was no limit to the amount of food I ate, and the next day, there was no limit to what my body did to retaliate. Today was the first day that I felt normal. Not only did it hurt my stomach, but I haven’t been able to leave the bathroom at work or at home in two days. Ouch...

It just proves that most of the food people eat these days is literally poisoning our bodies. The convenience factor of it all makes it more appetizing but in the long run it’s so unhealthy. I’m just glad that my body is back to normal and hope yall have a happy Saint Patricks day!

  1. You hit the nail on the head, Nicole. Fast food, processed food ... it's literally poisoning our bodies.

I gave fast food over a year ago, but still ate processed food. Since Chuck and I started our healthy eating plan last month, I've given up 99% of processed food too ... including soda. Yep, no soda, not even diet soda, for over a month.

The results? My feet never swell anymore, and I have stopped eating Tums before bed every night ... in one short month, my body is so much healthier.

I understand the emergence of "convenience" foods in the 50's, as woman began working more and needed help in the kitchen ... but hindsight is 20/20, and it just isn't good for us anymore.

Here's to more Ninja Finger successes!
